Like there had been many times before, there was a Crisis. This wasn't your grand-daddy's crisis, oh no, this was the world's greatest protectors, from different worlds and times, joining together to fight the foes no single hero could withstand.

They lost.

At least, they lost the battle, even if they won the war. All of existence was saved, but at a cost--the two worlds many of these heroes came from could no longer exist separately. As they had done once before, the beings known as the Living Tribunal and the Spectre merged the two universes, attempting to make them one for the sake of their survival, but this time? The merge was incomplete.

As the heroes are blasted back to Earth through time and space from the fight that shook the very foundations of the Omniverse, they will find themselves in this strange, new world, with only the vaguest recollection of what happened during that fateful battle. This world in turmoil needs its heroes.

So get ready to save the day, hero--the never-ending battle goes on.

After Impact is a DC/Marvel crossover RP. Unlike Amalgam, the characters are not merged with each other and the populace remembers that their world had once been two worlds. Please note: This is not a panfandom game.

FAQ

What's a basic rundown of the setting?

There was a Crisis. The good guys lost, but saved both worlds. The worlds were merged. Now Marvel and DC Earths are one world, with a massive overpopulation problem, tectonic troubles, and Lex Luthor as the president of the United States.

It's exactly as bad as it sounds, and there are several over-arching plots involved with how bad this new world is, but player-run plots are also highly encouraged.

A more detailed rundown of the settling and recent timeline can be found here.

When is the time cutoff for the Crisis in each universe?

For the DCU, it's pre-New Krypton, with New Krypton having vanished as part of the Crisis. For Marvel, it's pre-Siege. Individual characters are taken from before and after those points, however, due to the time-distorting nature of the final fight they all came from during the Crisis.

What are the major teams?

Currently, team rosters can be found here. More teams will be added as more characters enter the game, however, most likely, the Defenders will simply be split into squads.

What's the pace of this game?

Slow as molasses. It chugs along, slowly but surely, but please do not join up expecting a giant, fast-paced panfandom. This is more a quiet, patient musebox where people play whoever they like, whenever they like. It's a good game if you expect to be busy elsewhere with another big, busy game.

Why no character limit?

While the mods will tap a player and make them give up characters if it seems they can't keep up with them all, not every character is vital to the world all the time. In comics, characters come and go, have the spotlight on them and fade into the background. Playing characters here is the same. While we expect the iconic "major" characters (Cap, Iron Man, Superman, Batman, etc.) to be played somewhat more actively, other more minor characters typically aren't needed as often, or can have a more limited role. Everyone is expected to play their characters semi-regularly (in keeping with the slow pace of the game, of course), everyone is expected to play major characters more regularly, and as long as those two conditions are met, everyone gets the benefit if playing as many characters as they want.

What are activity requirements?

There are none. It's a museboxy game. Mostly you'll figure out how active you need to be via mod prodding. If we're poking you, it's time to play. Try at least participating in one log a month, though.

Do you accept OCs?

Yes, but you must app a canon first, and we'll provide you a special OC app. We like to hear character concepts first before you take the effort to write the app, so after you app in with a canon, if you have an OC idea, contact the mods to talk about your possible OC.

What is your game's RP philosophy?

We don't like passive-aggression, drama, rudeness when discussing problems, blowing things out of proportion (we're pretending to be people who wear their underoos on the outside here, after all) or anon stuff where simple problem-solving will suffice.

If you indulge in that stuff, we won't beat you to death with wiffle bats, but you might not be a good fit.

Read this. We take it to heart.

Where's the comm network?

There is none. You have to log characters meeting face to face. There is an IC Comm network, of course, but to use it, you have to log the comm chatter. "Talking heads" RP is perfectly acceptable.

Is this game panfandom?

No. There are other panfandom superhero games out there. Rather than have AI be yet another one, we decided to to stick strictly to the idea of a Marvel/DC crossover, and wanted to have it so instead of having homes to go to, the heroes have to fix what's now their new home, whether they like it or not. While we may allow a random lost character from another world to drift in now and again (especially if they're a superhero) we're only doing it if we think it's particularly cool. It will be case by case. If you would like a panfandom superhero game, we highly recommend [livejournal.com profile] capeandcowl and [livejournal.com profile] theposthumans.

Do you want villains apping?

Oh, most definitely. Keep in mind, when a villain is finally jailed, jails in AI do have breaks, but not constantly, so if your villain is eventually caught, you'll have some downtime on your hands. But we definitely want villains, especially apped by players willing to run long-term schemes.

Applications

APPS STATUS

Current Status: OPEN

APP RULES

- As long as a character would exist in the DCU and Marvel Multiverses in general, they can be apped. This means: Exiles characters can be apped, as can Vertigo characters.

- Other characters from various imprints/indies/comic cartoons are only allowed on a case-by-case basis, usually only if everyone thinks their addition would be really cool. They will be limited so that the majority of characters are DC and Marvel.

- Special accommodations must be made for characters not from the mainstream DC and Marvel Universes where they were pulled into the Crisis and now the problems with interdimensional travel have them stuck and unable to go home. (Elsewords, What Ifs, etc).

- Characters not from comics (or comic-related animation) or superhero-esque canons are not appable at all. This is not a panfandom game. It is a comics DC and Marvel game that might occasionally allow the rare non-DC or Marvel hero or non-comics superhero.

- If you're not sure if we'll allow a character, ask us before apping.

- Players may app into the game one app per player per month.

- Unfortunately, this game has several over-arching plot that can only be run if the game is kept small and manageable. We will only have as many app cycles as it requires to pick up a 40 players maximum, and then apps for new players will close down.

- It can take as long as a week for the mods to process an app. Please be patient.
